- Shipowners’ Club welcomes Mark Harrington to management board
LONDON, 25 MAY 2023 – The Shipowners’ Club, the leading P&I; insurer in the smaller and specialist vessel sector, is delighted to announce the promotion of Mark Harrington to its management board.
As previously announced, today (25 May 2023) marks Simon Swallow’s final day as CEO of the Shipowners’ Club, with Simon Peacock taking on the reins in that role.
As Simon Swallow moves towards his retirement date of 3 August, the Club will miss the unique commercial contribution that he has brought to this role since March 2015 and to the Club over the past 32 years. The Club’s strong relationships with its Members and their brokers is one of the key aspects of what makes the Club successful and we are therefore delighted to announce that Mark Harrington has today been promoted to the board of the Club’s management company (Shipowners’ Protection Limited – ‘SPL’) in the role of Commercial Director – London.
Mark has been with the Shipowners’ Club since 2004, most recently as the Head of Underwriting – London. Mark has 36 years of P&I; insurance experience and over those years he has developed close relationships with a great many of the Club’s partners and Members. The Club is delighted that Mark has accepted this role and is delighted that he will continue to bring his admirable expertise and energy to those partners and Members in this SPL Director role.
In welcoming Mark to the SPL board, Simon Peacock commented: “Mark’s commercial experience will be a great asset to the board of The Shipowners’ Protection Limited. He is admired by his colleagues and by his many friends in the wider market, both for his knowledge of the P&I; world and the manner in which he brings that knowledge to bear. We wish Mark every success in his new role.”
